Crater Lake Sunrise   5 comments

A brilliant sunrise illuminates a fresh blanket of snow at Oregon’s Crater Lake National Park. To capture this amazing shot of the sun peeking over the rim of the lake, Alex Noriega had to snowshoe for miles to the park’s west rim, and the extra effort paid off. This photo, taken February 2015, includes views of Wizard Island, Mount Scott and Garfield Peak. Photo courtesy of Alex Noriega. Posted on Tumblr by the US Department of the Interior, 3/22/15.

Here’s a great pic of a rainbow at the end of Devils Postpile National Monument's iconic Rainbow Falls. Plunging 101-feet down to the turbulent water below, the falls are aptly named for the many rainbows that appear in its mist throughout sunny summer days. Photo by Cat Connor.
