Want A Handy Handle?   Leave a comment

I call them Sous Chef Boards, because I think they are for your assistant in the kitchen, or Sous Chef.

That’s how it’s worked in our home, anyway.

However, I do know that cooks want more than one cutting board in their kitchen. Some boards are supposed to be pretty, some are supposed to be sized “just right,” and some are supposed to be easy to move around.

That means you need a handle. I believe.

So, Sous Chef Boards were born. These are the large variety, with about an 8″ x 11″ workspace – 2 sided – as well as a 10″ handle with a convenient hole to hang the board, if you’re so inclined.

Your mileage may vary, of course, but these have proven to be popular offerings from the Wood shop. This batch is special: they were cut out on the CNC. This is the first time I’ve had a vector file cut these out. There are 2 sizes as I worked through the possibility … and found the right size.

Heading West   1 comment

Mr-Ms-Logo---LargeWhen you live in Los Angeles, it might seem that there’s not much west except ocean … but then, LA’s a big place. And I don’t really live in LA, for that matter.

I live in Santa Clarita, AKA Valencia, and the trailer got loaded yesterday for our 5am departure for downtown Ventura, about an hour due west. What’s there? The 41st annual 4th of July Street Fair … which has hundreds of vendors offering a wide array of goodies for the holiday celebrants that make this big city-sponsored event an annual tradition.

Mrs M’s Handmade was there last year, and it was one of the first events that we got ‘whelmed at. Are we going back? You bet.

After our Spring Fling, my inventory had shrunk perilously low, so I finished 28 boards this week to make sure I had the goods for this year’s event.

Here are 22 Magic Bottle Openers and 6 Sous Chef boards that should ensure I have plenty of both for the teeming masses that await in Ventura.

Oh, and I have 4 clipboards still in inventory, just in case those 2 ladies come back looking for clipboards again this year! I am so hoping that happens, just so I can look at Velda and tell her that I need to make more clipboards. Maybe then she’ll start to believe that I need to make more.

Velda, beginning to believe me about something she disagrees with? You can tell I’m an eternal optimist, right?

Long-handled Mobility   Leave a comment

I think boards should be used as serving pieces, and these boards are designed to be mobile and decorative as you move from the counter to the stove … or from the pizza box to the table. Enjoy!

Mr-Ms-Logo---LargeThese handled boards are proving to be quite popular. They’re more versatile than a counter-top cutting board.

Take them from table to stove to counter and back again. Do your work where you’re comfortable, and then carry the board to the stove to add to your concoction on the stove.

That’s my theory, anyway!

The first three are long handled boards with a larger cutting surface, about 10″ x 16″. The smaller boards have the circular handles and a cutting surface that’s about 9″ x 12″.

All boards are about 3/4″ thick.
