Among one of the most inspiring vistas in the world, Tunnel View provides a perfect sunrise view of Yosemite National Park in California. From here you can see El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall rising from Yosemite Valley, with Half Dome in the background. This view gets its name from its location at the east end of the Wawona Tunnel. Humpback Whales swim 3,000 miles from their winter waters near Hawaii and Mexico to spend the summer feeding in the rich ocean waters off the Alaska coast. A snoozing sea otter in Kenai Fjords National Park. These cute mammals are found in the coastal waters of the Pacific Ocean, including areas around several national parks in Alaska. Their dense coat of luxuriously soft fur helps keep them warm in cold waters, where they can dive up to 250 feet in search of food like clams, crabs and sea urchins. Photo by National Park Service. Towering mountains, glaciers and icy-blue waters meet at Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska. Captivating scenery and the chance to see wildlife like bears and whales await adventurous travelers, who can explore the park by boat, kayak, or hiking the iconic Harding Icefield Trail. One of the most scenic parkways in America, Natchez Trace Parkway runs 444 miles through Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Sometimes we just get lucky. Researchers at Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska often use timelapse cameras to study glacier movement. While looking at the images from Bear Glacier, they came across this incredible shot of the full moon, mist on the mountains and blue ice. The light on the horizon is a fishing vessel. A trip to Alaska wouldn’t be complete without seeing mountains, glaciers and gorgeous wildflowers. Kenai Fjords National Park has all three. The park sits at the edge of the North Pacific Ocean, where storm patterns develop and feed a land of ice. The Harding Icefield crowns the park and is the source of at least 38 glaciers that flow over the land, sculpting as they go.
