Sunset sets the sky ablaze at Waubay National Wildlife Refuge in South Dakota. The refuge is located in the prairie pothole region, one of the largest and most important breeding areas for ducks and migratory birds in North America. This rare display of lenticular clouds over Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming last week captivated park visitors. Lenticular (lens-shaped) clouds occur when stable, moist air flows over a mountain, creating a series of large-scale standing waves on the downwind side. A stunning sunset over Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Christina Adele Warburg took this photo of Mount Moran and Jackson Lake from the park’s Colter Bay District a few weeks ago after a recent snow. “I had to snowshoe to the edge of the lake for the sunset.
